What do we do?
So, I think the easiest/clearest way to talk about the kinds of publishing is a chart with “traditional”, “self-publishing” & “hybrid”
Traditional
Traditional: you need representation; work must be selected for publication not only on quality of work but arbitrarily chosen market factors. No guarantee of success.
Self
Self: must bear cost of production including editing, formatting, registering, printing, distribution and marketing. The average self-published author spends 80% of their time marketing and only 20% writing. No guarantee of success.
Hybrid
Hybrid: all of the independence of self-publishing with all of the administrative support to edit, format, register, distribute and market the book. No guarantee of success.
